In Indore, truckers and transporters are advocating for the implementation of a modern vehicle monitoring system at checkpoints to improve the logistics flow. They estimate that around 4,000 commercial vehicles leave Indore daily, a number that increases during festive periods. The government's efforts to streamline vehicle movement by replacing check posts with checkpoints have been hindered by the lack of an effective monitoring system. The Indore Truck Operators and Transport Association is calling for a technology-based solution to oversee vehicle movement and prevent disruptions and extortion. They have written to the Minister of Transport, urging the adoption of a tech-based monitoring system. Other transport associations are also pushing for the state to adopt the Gujarat model and establish a helpline and app for reporting issues. In July, all checkposts on Madhya Pradesh's interstate borders were removed, a move welcomed by transporters aiming to facilitate transport and combat corruption.
